Jim specializes
in training and consulting for user interfaces and voice-enabled applications.
As co-chair of the W3C Voice Browser Working Group, Jim is a leader
for the standarization of languages for developing speech applications,
including VoiceXML 2.0, Speech Recognition Grammar, and Speech Synthesis
markup Languages.
As a consultant,
Jim uses his skills to presenta complete and unbiased information to
both his clients and students.
As an educator at
both Portland State University and Oregon Health Sciences University/Oregon
Graduate Institute, Jim designs and teaches courses for user ingerfaces
and speech applications.
As an author, Jim
communicates commonsense ideas and practices for building and testing
user-friendly speech applications. He is a contributing author for Speech
Technology magazine, and has written many articles and books on
user interfaces.
